February 25 - March 12, 2011 New! Cruise South Africa's Sublime Coastline, Cape Town
During South Africa's early autumn, we visit the continent's most beautiful city, Cape Town. From the comforts of a superb hotel, we'll visit the Cape of Good Hope (don't miss the colorful penguins nearby), explore the apartheid era and taste the superb wines and foods of the Cape Dutch winelands, perhaps the most picturesque wine region anywhere.
Next we'll board the beautiful all-suite, all-inclusive Silver Wind for a 10-day cruise along South Africa's stunning coastline. Some of the ports of call include Durban, Port Elizabeth, Mossel Bay, East London and Maputo, Mozambique.
When we reach Richard's Bay, we'll depart the Silver Wind for an outstanding 24-hour safari to one of South Africa's finest private game reserves, Phinda. We've been there on several occasions and seen the Big Five: lions, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. In addition the cheetah sightings are legendary. While there we'll overnight in beautiful private cottages surrounded by a unique 'sand forest'. It's an excellent introduction to safari travel.
Don't miss this unique cruise -- at the moment airfare to Cape Town is included! Full details and brochure available now.

May 14-24 or May 25-June 4, 2011 Live the good life in Sorrento
We're going back to an all-inclusive, luxurious villa in Italy. Instead of Tuscany, next year we'll explore the sublime region the Caesars once reserved for their vacations. Imagine the lush beauty of Sorrento, Capri, Positano and Amalfi. We'll also enjoy insider's visits to Naples, Ravello and more.
The first stay begins on May 14 and the second on May 26. Ten days, only nine rooms. Don't wait to hold your space! |

June and July On Safari in Africa -- Two great adventures
In 2011 we'll offer two superb safaris, one to 3 outstanding camps in South Africa which begins in Johannesburg on June 24. Each of these deluxe game camps is known for its Big 5 wildlife and superb accommodations.
Next, beginning July 6 in Tanzania, we'll revisit the famed Serengeti to see the massive migration of zebra and wildebeest as well as the Big 5, magnificent birdlife and so much more. Three camps including Klein's Camp and Serengeti under canvas. You'll love the visit to the Masai village and optional ballooning over the Serengeti. Safari limited to just 14 guests. Optional pre-and post-safari visits to see the fabled gorillas in Rwanda or the World Heritage site of Ongorngoro Crater. More details in late July.
July 19. Visit the best of Scandinavia with Oregon's Finnish Consul
Paul and Christine have created an exciting new itinerary that takes you by land to Bergen and Norway's magnificent fjords, explores beautiful Stockholm (3 days!), one of Europe's most scenic and interesting cities and then board the magnificent all-suite Silver Whisper to cruise to Helsinki, Tallinn, St. Petersburg (3days) and Copenhagen. Free airfare from 22 US gateway cities. Brochure available in July. |
What Makes our Signature Journeys so special?
Each year we select several travel destinations to offer our good travelers. We carefully enhance these journeys to offer an even richer, more personalized, experience that others on a similar trip receive. In addition, we strive to offer our guests more value for their travel dollar.
Here's what you receive on our Signature Journeys:
More Personal Attention. These trips are hosted by a 'traveling concierge'. These individuals -- always seasoned travel professionals -- accompany the journey to add insight to the destinations we visit. Moreover, they are there to assure that everythings goes as planned or to assist in the event of unforeseen travel changes.
Private, Complimentary Insider Events. We create special events along the way that go beyond the standard fare offered by cruise lines or tour companies. We select our own guides -- typically among the best in the region -- and arrange for our own uncrowded buses. We look for unique events not open to other travelers that take you deeper into the local way of life, to enjoy the best of the culture we're visiting. Most of our special events include a pleasant lunch or dinner, accompanied by regional wines, in well-regarded local restaurants.
Depending upon the journey, we receive invitations into a private home, a champagne reception in a palace or a barbeque at a private villa. Many of these places would simply not welcome tour groups.
In-depth Travel Information. Well before you depart, we present you with a detailed Trip Book that describes each day in detail, provides information about expected weather and appropriate clothing and shares information about the local culture so you'll feel comfortable and know what to expect. We provide you with pocket size currency conversion cards and tipping guidelines.
Along the way, we send home e-postcards so your friends and relatives can follow the course of your journey.
We Preserve Your Individuality. We limit the participation in our journeys to 15-24 guests and strive to avoid all the trappings of tour groups. You'll find time for your own interests whether that be exploring, shopping, taking photographs or enjoying a coffee with the locals.
Special Events, Pleasant Surprises. We want you to know we appreciate your confidence in us so we include those little surprises that make a good trip extra special.
Chances are good that after your first Signature Journey, you'll want to go again, and again. Many of our guests have been on four or five Signature Journeys while a few have experienced 10 or more over the course of the past decade.
We invite you to join us!
"... we want to express our profound appreciation for the care, consideration and concern - all far beyond the call of duty - that you display for your clients, or as you treat them, your guests." ~HT, Portland, Oregon
