2011 Safaris Two options: South Africa and East Africa
Imagine the thrill of the presence of a pride of lions, living in the Africa's magnificent wilds. The cubs want to play, the mothers are alert for game or danger and the big males want to sleep. You're there, up close. You're also up close to watch a breeding herd of elephants with the matriarch leads her sisters and daughters and little babies while the bull stays nearby. Then there's the curious giraffe watching us watching them, colorful zebra, snorting hippos and wildly-colored birdlife.
Next, there are the people. Bright, cheerful, knowledgable young men and women who devote themselves to introducing their country to us, putting us at ease at once. You'll be amazed at their knowledge and their skills in the wild.
Over the years we've visited nearly 35 camps in Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa. Altogether we've spent more than a half year of our lives on safari to experience Africa's wildlife and its beautiful landscapes. Yet we never tire of the experience; rather, these journeys become the highlights of our travels.
Nervous about a safari?
We suggest you read Christine Niskanen's concern about her first safari in the downloaded brochure -- no one was more nervous than she.
Two Safaris in 2011 We offer two superb safaris for 2011; the first in South Africa for superb Big 5 game viewing, the second follows the great migration in Tanzania and Kenya as well as Big 5 game viewing.

South Africa, June 24 - July 4, 2011
Many travelers overlook South Africa as a safari destination; yet, it's one of the best anywhere in Africa. Depending upon your location, the game viewing in South Africa is superb, the safari lodges are well designed and comfortable and the values are some of the best anywhere on the continent. We can virtually guarantee you'll see the Big 5 (lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant) and many more species. Recently one of our safari groups spotted 24 different species of mammals, 8 species of reptiles and over 60 separate birds in just one day.
Finally, a safari to amazing South Africa offers visitors the oppotunity to begin their journey in stunning Cape Town, the most beautiful city on the African Continent. In 3-4 days you'll see the spectacular scenery en route to the Cape of Good Hope, taste the high regarded wines in the nearby Cape Dutch winelands and explore South Africa's troubled past and its transition into a vibrant, multiracial society.

Tanzania and Kenya: Following the Great Migration July 6-16, 2011
Most safari travelers know about the Serengeti and its companion reserve in Kenya, the Masai Mara, as the most famous wildlife sanctuary in Africa. The sheer volume of wildlife that inhabit these plains is overwhelming. Wildlife experts estimate that more than a million wildebeest can be found here along with a quarter million Thompson's gazelle and a similar number of Burchell's zebra. That's just the beginning. Of course this astronomical number of animals attracts abundant numbers of all the major predators including lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas.
We'll be there, in the midst of the herds, to experience one of the world's great sights.
We'll stay in superb camps or lodges, eachoperated by an award-winning ecotourism company, andBeyond (formerly, CC Africa) or Great Plains Conservation. Our accommodations are in luxurious East African-style 'tents' or individual cottages. Though this may sound rustic, we'll sleep under fine linens, enjoy private ensuite facilities including hot and cold water and dine on delicious (and healthy) Pan-African cuisine. It's also nice to know that most of the little components such as complimentary laundry service and most of our drinks are included.
We've arranged to occupy the entire camps but that limits us to just 14 guests. At the time the brochure was released, four of those places were pre-reserved. |
